ExporeLearning is excited to announce a new feature launching soon: Frax Competitions!
Introducing Frax Competitions: A new way to learn fractions
Adaptive and game-based, Frax uses the latest research to help students develop a conceptual understanding of fractions through adaptive and engaging learning. Frax is a zero-entry program that allows all students to improve their fractions knowledge and build confidence as they complete carefully scaffolded fraction games.
What are Frax Competitions?
Coming in spring 2025, Frax Competitions will allow teachers to host competitions among different classrooms in the same school building. Now, students in one classroom can face off against other classes in a school for amped-up fractions engagement, fun rivalry, and increased motivation!
Teachers can set custom durations for each Frax Competition period. Once a competition is active, students do not need to take any additional action when using Frax. Their individual Frax data will contribute to overall Team performance. The class with the greatest average number of completed Frax missions wins!
How to set up Frax Competitions in your classroom
Are you ready for the challenge? Teachers with a full Frax subscription can access Frax Competitions. Please contact us to learn more about bringing Frax Competitions to your students.
Getting started with Frax Competitions
You will be able to access Frax Competitions from two different locations: Account Home or the Frax Reporting Dashboard.

Accessing the competition feature
From the Frax Competitions homepage, click "Create Competition." Set your competition name and invite fellow teachers at your school to participate. If you teach multiple classes yourself, your students can compete against one another without inviting another teacher!
Set the duration of your fractions competition. Select a “Team” (Frax class group) to participate in the competition, and don’t forget to give your team a name. You can even customize your team with an icon and team color. Once a competition is active, students do not need to take any additional action when using Frax. Their individual Frax data will contribute to overall Team performance.
Tracking student progress during a competition
Navigate to the Frax Competitions homepage and select a competition to view the Leaderboard. If you have previously worked with Frax Competitions, you’ll find that you can access your most recent competitions from the banner at the top of your Frax Reporting Dashboard, by selecting the card of a specific competition.
Key benefits of Frax Competitions for student learning
Completing Frax missions is the goal during Frax Competitions, which means students are learning fractions while having fun with classroom competition games.
Building fractions understanding and skills through play
Teaching fractions is interactive and engaging with Frax. Learning doesn’t feel like “work” as students complete fraction math games and progress through the Frax Sectors. Students learn in a space-themed environment packed with games, music, custom avatars, personalized space cabins, and more.
Encouraging collaboration and friendly competition
Frax Competitions can help motivate all students to encourage comradery and healthy competition! Motivate your students with bulletin boards and other decorations to celebrate progress and completed Frax missions. If multiple classrooms are competing against each other, share status updates and celebrate wins on the daily announcements, during lunch, or at a school assembly.
Supporting all learners with engaging fraction games
Using Frax, students work with length models and number lines to develop a strong conceptual understanding of fractions. Frax provides students with individualized instruction tailored to their levels of understanding to help all students achieve success and grade-level proficiency.
Frax supports all learners, including at-risk students and students who receive tiered interventions through RTI or MTSS.
Tips for a successful Frax Competition
Frax Competitions can enhance and improve fractions instruction before and during a fractions unit.
Best practices for hosting classroom competitions
Dedicate time for Frax during your math block or math center time to ensure students have ample time to complete a Frax mission. Use Frax’s reporting features to monitor student progress as they complete Frax games. And don’t forget about Frax offline activities to extend learning with in-person discussions.
