6. How does Frax help students with learning fractions?
Frax helps students understand fractions as numbers. Use Frax before your fractions unit to accelerate student learning!
7. Why do fractions matter?
Understanding fractions is crucial because fractions form the foundation for more advanced math concepts and real-world applications, from algebra to everyday problem-solving.
8. How do Reflex and Frax work together? What's the best order for implementing them?
Reflex and Frax work together by targeting different math skills at key stages of learning. Reflex is used, typically in grades 2-6, to build math fact fluency with addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Frax is used, usually in grades 3-5, to help students develop a strong understanding of fractions.
Simultaneous heavy usage of both is not recommended. The most impactful results come from fidelity usage dedicated to each product at the proper time. Grade 3+ teachers should devote any available time (before or after completing the recommended Frax work) to Reflex until students have reached a high level of fluency. For the best results, teachers should prioritize Frax before starting a fractions unit to accelerate student learning. For more details, read the full guide on when to use Reflex and Frax.
9. What professional development for educators does Frax include?
Site and district licenses include live, instructor-led online webinars and on-demand self-paced videos that help educators implement Frax easily and effectively. Our professional development offerings include introductory and advanced courses for teachers and administrators.
Everybody's Talking About Frax
“Frax is by far the best program I have seen for fractions. Even the kids who experience math challenges seem to ‘get’ fractions. Now, when any fraction related math comes up in our lessons, they all seem to know the correct answer!”
- Frax Teacher, Cloquet Independent School District 94, MN"I use Frax in my classes. On our mid-year screener, my students outperformed the other 3rd grade classes that don’t use Frax. My two classes’ average point increase was double that of the other five classes."
- Frax Teacher, Liberty Hill Independent School District, TX"My kids absolutely love Frax! Their abilities vary, but ALL my students feel success with Frax. They have a much better grasp on fractions overall and it has really made a difference in what we are able to do in class."
- Frax Teacher, Redwood Preparatory Charter School, CA"My students are super sad that there are only 27 missions in Frax Sector 1. They are literally begging to do more fraction work! One student who usually struggles with math concepts completed all of the missions and is now getting A’s in math instead of C’s."
- Frax Teacher, Greenville Co School District, SC"My students LOVE Frax! They now regularly say things like ‘Well I know that 1/4 + 1/4 = 1/2...’ or ‘I know that 3/6 = 1/2...’, which were not things they were saying before working on Frax. The improvement in their fraction fluency has been noticeable."
