What Are Frax Sector Review Rooms?

sector review

Have your students encountered the Frax Sector Review Room, and you’re not quite sure what it is? Wondering how learning continues after students complete Frax missions?

Frax is an adaptive solution designed to help students develop a conceptual understanding of fractions through game-based, engaging practice. Learn more about the Frax Sector Review and why it’s a key part of the Frax journey.

Overview of the Frax Sector Review

Throughout Frax, students progress through missions grouped into three Sectors that align with elementary-grade-level fractions standards. Frax missions are structured as game-based challenges, allowing students to learn by doing as they progress through carefully scaffolded instruction.

The Sector Review Rooms are a dedicated review space that opens after students complete all Frax mission activities in a given Sector, allowing them to revisit and strengthen fraction skills through daily, adaptive gameplay. The Sector Review is currently available after students complete Sectors 1 and 2, with Sector 3 coming in late 2026!

The Sector Review Rooms are:

  • Highly adaptive, with practice that adjusts to each student’s performance
  • Ideal for math review and response to intervention
  • Perfect for early finishers, ensuring no student runs out of meaningful math work

Rather than stopping practice once students complete their Frax missions, the Sector Review allows them to continue building confidence with fractions, apply concepts, and stay engaged. At the same time, you maintain visibility into students’ progress and participation.

How do students access the Sector Review Rooms?

Once students complete all missions in a given Frax Sector, a new Review door will open on the Bridge.

What do students do in the Frax Sector Review Rooms?

Once students enter the selected Review Room, they encounter engaging, arcade-style games that are typically new experiences they haven’t seen inside Frax missions. These review games are designed specifically for practice and challenge, using the same fractions concepts in more dynamic, playful, and visually rich ways.

By playing these games, typically three per day, students revisit and apply all the skills and ideas from across the entire Sector, keeping practice fresh, motivating, and highly engaging while deepening their understanding of fractions.

Students earn tokens, unlock achievements, and track daily progress with a Green Light indicator (similar to the Reflex Green Light). After earning their Green Light, students can visit other rooms on the Frax spaceship, spend tokens in the store, and replay Sector Review games to earn additional tokens (up to a daily maximum).

When students return on a new day, their previously completed games rotate, allowing them to encounter new activities and practice in exciting, unexpected ways.

Why does the Frax Sector Review matter?

The Sector Review is important because it delivers highly adaptive math practice that challenges and engages students while keeping learning fun. Each game experience adjusts to student performance, ensuring fraction review stays purposeful and motivating.

Engaging student features

Students experience high-energy games designed specifically for review, offering practice opportunities that go far beyond traditional paper-and-pencil work. The Sector Review Room games feature familiar fractions content presented in new and challenging ways, keeping learning fresh while motivating students with rewards and points.

Long-term benefits for teachers

For you, the Sector Review is a huge bonus that ensures all students (even early finishers!) stay engaged without extra prep work. The Sector Review Rooms are ideal for ongoing review, test prep, and adaptive math intervention.

Prepare for future success with Sector Reviews

Completing Sector Reviews also helps ensure students are confidently ready to progress from Sector 1 to Sector 2 and eventually, from Sector 2 to Sector 3. Instead of rushing ahead, students use the Review Rooms experience to solidify core fraction concepts, close gaps, and strengthen their understanding before encountering new ideas in the next Sector.

This intentional practice supports stronger performance on classroom assessments and state tests, while reinforcing the foundational fractions skills students need for future success in algebra and beyond. Since Sector Review games are adaptive and ongoing, they’re especially effective for math intervention, helping students who may be behind revisit key concepts, build confidence, and catch up as they advance.

Dedication to continuous improvement

The Frax team continuously refines game content and instruction based on research, classroom feedback, and learner data to ensure students receive the most effective (and engaging!) fractions instruction possible. By analyzing how students interact with tasks and where they succeed or struggle, the team always strives to improve clarity, challenge, and engagement across the Sector Review experience.

New enhancements, including the Review Room for Frax Sector 3, will be available in late 2026!
